Beginnings: a Story of Growth
So much changes in a years time. My husband and I were given our first essential oils as a wedding gift last July. One of my best friends shared them with us, and I was immediately intrigued. I had heard little things here and there about oils, but never gave them much consideration. Frankly, I didn't really care. But them we experienced them, and I suddenly couldn't get enough. In those next few months, things changed so much for us. I slowly purchased a few oils as our budget allowed and by December I knew that this was for us. On January 1st, we signed up as wholesale members with Young Living and have never looked back. We started building our business in February and soon realized the potential for an incredible business because of the fact that we were making residual income. Our business continues to grow and thrive because of the fact that we have created a community of growth and authenticity, in which people are able to experience wellness for themselves.
We soon realized, however, that oils don't always work unless you do. But then, what does? We knew that if we wanted to be truly healthy that some other changes were going to need to be made. Oils were the launching pad for us, but not the ending. If we truly wanted to stop having headaches, anxiety, depression, digestive troubles, hormonal imbalances, weight gain, back pain, and a whole host of other problems, then we needed to go another step further. I was experiencing some hormonal imbalances, primarily because I was on birth control. The pill is one of the biggest contributors to unhealthy hormones, yet so many women are on it! We decided to go with other methods that wouldn't mess with my hormones and it has been a great decision! If you can (and with your doctor's go-ahead) get off the pill as soon as possible! Those synthetic replacements are almost certainly wrecking your body!
The next things that we started to change was our diet. In March/April, we started getting serious about what we were eating. We added Ningxia Red to our daily routine (praise!!) and started cutting out a lot of meat, dairy, and grains. To be honest, I still love my bagels and chocolate (not together) so those haven't been cut out yet. Maybe someday :)
Exercise is still something that we are getting back into (in college we had a daily 6AM running habit). Yoga is my current choice (yoga + oils = heavenly), since I have some knee trouble and running strains it. May's goal is to get back into the habit of exercising 4-5 times per week. This is a crucial step to total wellness!
We invite you into this journey with us. We have certainly not arrived, and have a lot to learn still.
